Description
Not only virtuous: crews serving the scene
The dazzling life of the virtuosos behind the scenes appears to be a demanding one, busy perfecting their vocal and acting skills, and always intent on safeguarding the image they have built up with spasmodic discipline and shrewd diplomacy among authoritative patronages and high-profile appointments, as they try from time to time to build an entourage around them that is capable of following and enhancing them.
A hard-working and variegated ‘family’, where tensions and bitterness are not lacking, is assembled every theatre season, giving rise to real or fictitious alliances, and sometimes initiating partnerships destined to write memorable pages of unquestionable artistic value. The raising of the sign takes place after laborious pacts stipulated between all the workers united to give life to the complex spectacular journey, marked by stages destined to compose a dramaturgical ‘map’exemplary for its ideological bearing and performative feedback.
Singers, composers, librettists, set designers and painters dialogue to define strategies and tactical plans to be followed for the greater glory of their professionalism and above all the economy of the difficult theatrical machine. The entrepreneur, aided by a shrewd milieu that crowds conventions and articles not written in notarial deeds, but by equally meticulous“secret” pacts, is called upon to create balanced and fierce companies capable of satisfying the expectations and wishes of those who promote the material life of the stage.
